Abortion in sheep flocks

Abortion is a common but preventable occurrence in sheep flocks. If your abortion rate was greater than 2% then it is likely that infectious causes such as toxoplasmosis or enzootic abortion may have been involved. We are able to identify these by taking blood samples from ewes and sending it off to the lab. Toxovax and Enzovax are now available to order.

Due to supply shortages in previous years we recommend you to order early to avoid disappointment. Both vaccines can be used in ewe lambs from five months of age and can be given up to four months off tupping.

Please ring the practice on 028 8556 7150 for more information on both vaccines and to place your order.
